Sahra trained to become a Birth doula with Simkin center and Allied Health Vocations at Bastyr in February 2017. She is currently in the process of becoming a Certified Doula through DONA International. She holds an Associates Degree and is currently a student at the University of Washington studying to become a Midwife. She felt the need to become a Doula, when she gave birth to her daughter in 2015. Sahra became inspired by the importance of having a doula by her side during her pregnancy and labor. She feels greatly blessed to have the opportunity to serve the birth community. And help empower others to make the choices that are right for them. Her philosophy is to guide her clients towards their satisfying birth experience, free of judgment and full of support. Sahra has experience working with both first-time parents, parents with more than one child, un-medicated and medicated births and VBAC. Sahra speaks some Oromo and Somali. In her free time, Sahra spends time with her husband and two children, volunteers at Harborview Medical Center and loves going for a walk at local parks or drink coffee at different coffee shops.
Why Sahra Birth & Beyond?
“Sahra” in Arabic means “flower” or “rose”; however, in the Quran, it means “giving someone the best of what’s in this world.” With Sahra birth and Beyond, I believe I can offer you the best experience with your labor/birth plan and beyond. My philosophy is to create a plan and make it happen. Ultimately your dreams become my goal. I am not here to tell you what to do but to help guide you towards your unique experience.
